I appreciate your view that anonymity can foster invective. You have to admit, it appears that the very mention of Allision can invoke some pretty strong feelings. Some of the criticism that Allison has received on this site is deserved -- some not. And some of the most crass remarks are downright juvenile. I also don't like the anonymity. That's why I identified myself. But I realize there are many reasons why one would choose not to do so. I've got no dog in this hunt anymore. Hell, I'm not even in the biz anymore. But there are signficant differences between this blog and Sayso. For one, this discussion board relates to a single issue: Allison Wazer. Two, and most important, it is not appearing in a newspaper of general interest. Sayso is journalistic bilge, and I hope is is appropriately relegated to the waste heap by Ms. Walzer's successor. Last, these are the rants of journalists (in my case former). And who's going to bother reading them, let alone pay them any mind.

I'm happy to hear that you remember me. Many of us are long forgotten. I never said, and certainly did not mean to imply, that my writing never benefited from a second set of eyes reviewing it. I made some serious errors at times, errors that in some cases more aggressive editing may have prevented, but my errors nevertheless. Also, I did say that I respected Janoski. There were others as well. And I truly and sincerely liked almost everybody I worked with in W-B -- even Allison, at times. It's just that I believed then, as I do today, that on more occassions than not she did not distinguish herself journalistically. I just don't think that the top editor's job at a daily of the TL's size was the right fit for her.
