Because I think it's disrespectful and degrading. *And* despite her very public flaws -- and despite the lashings I took numerous times in public and private -- the fact remains that I've got to acknowledge that she was also very sharp (when she was focused).

When Duncan was the publisher, he was a newsroom man. He cared about ads, of course, but he always pushed for quality editorial work, and Allison helped to produce that quality. It was only after Duncan left, and was replaced by Mark Contreras that quality reporting began to degrade because of "advertorials" and other special focus publications.
