Subject: Raven Update 6/18/13

Just finished my first shot of Insulin with my new Levemir pen, and it was a breeze! I'm using the tiny BD, Ultra Fine, Nano Pen needles, which probably made it easier. I am starting off at ten units per day. I love my family doctor (she is a doll). It was actually really good to see her again. She was shocked to see my blood sugar like this, but understood as it has done this to other cancer patients after chemo. She took care of me. Still waiting to get word from my long time Oncologist, who I miss with all my heart. The new one is a nightmare. Glad to get this over with. Next week is my new PET Scan (haven't had one since September of last year). We have never gone this long before, but it just happened. There was so much going on during the chemo infusions.

The last PET Scan was so horrifying for us that I really haven't wanted to do one. I would change the subject when it was even brought up. As you know, that is when all hell broke loose and I had those hospitals tell me that I didn't stand a chance essentially. They based all my hope and any chance I might have on the scan results, and they were rather grim. It left us feeling hopeless and defeated (It's no wonder I don't want another one ever again). I know it must be done, but if I find out that things are worse, not sure I can deal with it this time. A lot hangs on my blood sugar right now. If I can't get it down far enough in time for the scan next week, it will need to be rescheduled. They won't let you do a PET Scan if your blood sugar is over 200 (and it should not be even close to that). Let's hope I can bring it down in time and get this bloody thing over with period........

On a positive note, who knows, things may have improved. Hanging onto that for dear life.

John is a real guardian angel. He has stood by me through so much (even though I am the worst backseat driver in the world). LOL! He wants to buy me a hood so that I won't see all the crashes he is about to get into! He always makes me laugh, and I love him for it. My blood work from Monday came back normal, so I think I am beating the MRSA!

True Blood is back, Spring is still in the air, and I am feeling a little lighter. Praying every night before I go to bed for guidance and strength. I think it's working. I love you guys. You are my army of angels. God bless you for keeping me grounded and filled with hope even when I can't muster up an ounce on my own (thank you for that). God bless you! XOXOXOXOXOXO!
