Subject: And now.... some VERY EXCITING news! 7/9/13

Your prayers have gotten me through so much. I am in tears as I write this. I was losing hope because things just seemed to get darker and darker over the past several months. The PET Scan from September of last year was grim. It showed Metastatic cancer in several area's throughout my chest. I was being written off by other hospitals as a dead girl walking. I rose above it and kept searching for hope. If it were not for my beloved Oncologist (who is about to open his own practice), I would not be here today. That experience I had so many years back while reading an article on a drug that should have meant nothing to me at the time (then called STI571), and the fact that my Oncologist had a hunch, and put THAT drug in as a wildcard with my C-Kit (only to find that it was the one that would turn out to be highly positive) has truly come full circle.

My new PET Scan has literally stunned my Oncologist as well as the Radiologist who was comparing pictures from both scans and could not believe the disappearing act they saw before them. The mass on my left chest wall is gone. The mass under my right arm is gone. The mammary node near my heart has shrunk from 11 to 8, and is no longer lighting up. The other scattered nodes we saw have completely disappeared. The mass on my Mediastinum is gone gone gone! What things remain, are shrinking before our eyes and taking up very little FDG. Nobody expected to see this from an Angiosarcoma patient (least of all me). The hospital met over my case and my concern with the long acting insulin and feel that my results are accurate. They said that the liver is the organ that takes up more of the radioactive tracer than any other organ, and has a special glow to it to let them know that the tracer is working the way that it should., If my long acting insulin was interfering with the test, they would have seen this in the liver, but it was glowing the way it's supposed to. Going forward, they feel I should stay away from it for the next scan, but feel these results can be trusted. He said they also correlate with the accompanying CT they do at the same time. You guys kept talking to me about miracles, and today is one of those miracles. My doctor was right about that wildcard he played. The Gleevec has wiped nearly all of this away.

The only thing spoiling this perfect party is the areas they found in my brain, which are completely new. There are two of them (in the left parietal region). She wanted to do an MRI, but we met halfway as I would prefer to repeat the PET Scan in a couple of months without the long acting insulin, and see if those area's in my brain are still there. If so, we will do the MRI study of my brain with contrast. She knows I have been dealing with blurred vision and headaches for a while now, but we chalked it up to chemo and diabetes. I want to give it a little more time to see if the Gleevec will wipe those out too.

Gleevec is a miracle drug.....................................................!

Your prayers are what helped to fuel this amazing news today, and for that, I will always be so incredibly grateful. The brain stuff has us worried, but we are keeping our focus on the fact that all of those masses in my chest are gone!

Thank you to my blessed father in heaven and to my lord Jesus Christ. I am thankful to the angels that I know surround me, and to the blessed saints I have prayed to as well. They really do exist and so do miracles. This has made me a believer........

Taking this chemo pill every day is no picnic (and the battle continues), but if it gives me more time with the people I love, it's worth the side effects (she gave me something called the Fentanyl Patch today to aid in helping with the pain, when the Percocet is not enough). I'll worry about what they saw in the brain tomorrow, but for today, it's a major victory, and I thank God for this blessed and incredibly needed good news!

Hallelujah! XOXOXOXO! ♥

As I said in my last post God will not lead you where His Grace cannot keep you. He led you to the Gleevec and He was right. I am so happy for you. One day a time. Today I am happy for you. Prayers are powerful and you certainly have had many. Heaven has been bombarded on your behalf and God has listened. But you also have not failed God, because you give him Glory and witness on His behalf and He knows this. Love you dear Raven

So glad to read the news! First time poster, longtime reader here. Just an FYI... PLEASE be careful with the Fentanyl Patches...they are way stronger than morphine and morphine is way stronger than percocet/oxycodone. Be sure and read your instructions carefully on those. Continued well wishes to you!!

Thank you LORD for such a wonderful blessing! Someone above said to go do something fun they're right go indulge some joy. FYI be careful with the patch if not done properly it can kill you, a friends son-in-law died from using pain patches because he put on a second one and he fell asleep and never woke up, so follow the directions carefully. God bless you and yours.
