I'm a fan of your clear and compassionate writing. You always tell it like it is and you NEVER insult your audience's intelligence. For that, I'm so grateful.

We all need to fight this fight, but in the end -- I do believe GH will be canceled. But how we go down in the end DOES matter... at least to me.

I've heard a lot of cheer and congratulations about GH being renewed, but as you said: it's for the wrong reasons. That point never escaped me, especially with the Katie Couric pr stunt! WIth that in mind -- that I do believe GH will get canceled -- I'm sorry to have certain vets returns canceled or on hold. Perhaps some of them won't be available later :( Also, I'm afraid we might get an OLTL-type NON-finale because we will all be duped a second time that there is hope after all (aka Prospect Park). I'd be happier if Disney acknowledge the truth, bring on the fireworks, and we all have realistic expectations. Of course, that will never happen.

On a separate note, Frank Valentini and Ron Carlivati are a major, major improvement to the Phelps/Guza regime. HOWEVER, too many people are being swept up in the improvements and not acknowledging certain dysfunctional continuities from the Phelps/Guza to the "Cartini" regimes.

Firstly, there remains an undeniable focus on the "unholy trinity" of Sonny-Jason-Carly. This focus needs to go, simply put. The mob focus needs to be balanced out with hospital and other story lines. The 10+ year status quo that 'Sonny, Jason and Carly can do no wrong' must be reversed. I would love to see Sonny pay for some of his crimes. That could make excellent story. These are good actors and this would deliver them great material.

Secondly, I'm not sure the Cartini regime doesn't have it's elements of misogyny. I've always felt that Daytime -- more so because of it's female heavy viewership -- needs to promote strong female characters with respect and integrity. Cartini certainly didn't do that at OLTL (although otherwise the writing was excellent) -- as remarked by Marlene DeLacroix in a great piece in her blog. Honestly, I feel so strongly on this point that no matter how great Cartini's regime is for GH, it's unacceptable if they continue to disrespect women. UNACCEPTABLE. So much that I might even be okay with cancellation as any show that promotes misogynist messages is not worth being on air. I think it was TV Guide that ranked GH one of the most misogynist shows on television, not just daytime!!!

Ok, that's my two cents, Raven. Once again, thank you for all that you've done. You deserve a miracle and I join your many fans in praying for your recovery.
