Hey Gang,
It's that time again, so pull up a chair and get ready for some industrial strength lather as we sail into our weekend on a bar of soap. The climate out there is tense these days with fans divided on many fronts. Tempers are flaring as patience wears thin on the many out there fighting to save our shows. We need to stay focused and not allow the trivial battles out there to distract us from what's most important. There will always be ants at every picnic. We need to focus more on saving our shows and less on those ants that want to spoil our efforts out there. There are groups that are working harder than you can imagine in trying to reverse what was set in motion by ABC. I think the least we can do is support them!
You know that I have always been painfully honest with you, and that's not about to change now. I can't guarantee you that what we are doing now will change the outcome of what ABC has planned, but to sit idly by and scoff at all the efforts and laugh off all the various campaigns out there is shameful. If you were dying and your doctor told you that there was a surgical procedure that might save your life, with the odds not being in your favor, would you just lie in bed and wait to die, or would you take that slim chance and fight to live? We are fighting for survival here no matter how slim that chance may be. You might be able to live with all of the what if's that will haunt you in years to come, but for those of us fighting out there, that's just not an option. There is certain information out there that has been planted in an effort to get us to give up and see this as pointless. They figure they can herd the cattle easily enough if they plant the right stories. They know that soap fans are easily led. They know how to work us, but we have surprised them this time. We are smarter than they gave us credit for. We are not giving up, and neither should you.

I know that many are brokenhearted over the announcement that Trevor St. John is leaving OLTL. I told you that he was due to exit, when I made the following statement in my February 16, 2011 column (still archived here for reference):
From February 16, 2011:
Before I took that much needed break, I created a 6.5 on the Richter scale by hinting that Roger Howarth was returning, with a leading man's exit causing rioting in the streets. Fans were upset because they knew exactly what I was referring to. Things stalled, and here we are almost two years later with the inevitable finally upon us. That is what I meant when I stated that the rioting was merely delayed. If everything goes as planned, Trevor St. John will be exiting with Roger Howarth returning to the fold. I'm sorry to long time fans of Trevor St John's.
As usual, I took a great deal of heat for simply telling fans what I knew to be true. Nobody wanted to believe me back in February when I warned you that this was coming, and Trevor St John is indeed out as stated. I certainly take no pleasure in telling my readers things that I know will only upset them. It was denied everywhere as usual, and of course, here we are. This is a very familiar place for me. I've been here many times before over the years. I can't even count the many actors who have denied they were leaving, only to leave 3-4 months later, which is the typical amount of time it takes to make it to the announcement phase (I get very early rumblings). If you look over my past columns and match them up with the dates that exits were actually announced, you will see a distinct pattern (it's typically 3-4 months later in nearly every instance). You can bury your head in the sand and shoot the messenger, which is beyond childish and idiotic, or you can be an adult and simply consider yourself prepared. The choice is yours. If an actor changes their mind or the show decides to keep someone around, it won't affect my giving you what I am honestly hearing either way. In March I told you that Gigi, Brody, The Fords (all but one), Cristian, and Marty would all be off canvas, and here we are almost three months later watching all of this unfolding before our very eyes. The mass exodus has begun my friends. Prepare yourself as it's about to get worse.
Before I give you guys all the latest, I have something fun and exciting to share with my fellow Catherine Hickland fans out there! I know that a great many of you may not be on Facebook, but we have a group over there that is helping to get Cat named as the new Celebrity Apprentice! We couldn't think of anyone more deserving or perfect for this spot (Cat is a long time fan of the show, and would have no trouble channeling Lindsay Rappaport if she needed to)! Gossip Column Disclaimer That Will Appear In Each Column!
This disclaimer will appear each week. Please keep in mind that these are rumors, and any gossip or rumors found within, are completely unsubstantiated. I know this goes without saying for most of you, but there are many new readers out there as well. So far, my sources have been pretty darn good over the years, and I am truly grateful. It would be pointless to have a gossip column without gossip, so you will find both fact and unsubstantiated rumors within these walls. Also, please note that actors are contractually bound by gag orders. They are not allowed to reveal whether they are leaving or not, until the network gives them the green light to do so. Insisting that actors speak to rumors that involve their relationship with their respective shows, places them in a very awkward position. Please keep all of this in mind as you read my column (which will come out every other week). In addition, I can be wrong, and freely admit this. When my sources give me what they have, it's what they are hearing backstage at that moment in time. They are the first to admit that stories can be scrapped or rewritten, with casting decisions changing frequently. I respect their limitations, and so should you. Most of what I hear are very early rumblings, but I will keep nothing from you either way.

I told you that one of my absolute favorite heroines was leaving in a shocking twist. Watch carefully, and you will see the beginnings of this here very soon. Two are indeed on their way to General Hospital once their stories wrap. That shocking announcement is coming on that exclusive I gave you regarding Frank Valentini and Gary Tomlin! Brace yourselves! General Hospital will need to up their supply of Xanax here very soon!
Watch carefully and you will notice that one of our most beloved, long time characters is doing next to nothing these days (this will only get worse). At least she is not in a coma this time, although she might just as well be (idiots). Gigi knows how to make an exit (and Clint gets his own slice of heaven). Gigi will always be in his heart (ahem). Shane goes into overdrive to make Jack pay. Dani loses more than just her beau. Destiny is haunted by what she feels she must face alone, and many are shocked when the truth finally surfaces.

Rex turns into Clint before our very eyes, and Cutter's secret is unveiled. If you will recall, I told you some time back that they had batted around the idea of Rama and Clint ala Kimmie (well now, they have real Kimmie instead). Amanda Setton returns as Kimmie with a vengeance in her heart! That reunion with Clint and Viki will just have to wait (I'm told that Clint and Viki are still endgame). Oh, and if you think Clint signed over everything without a loophole, think again..........
Ravenbeauty's General Hospital Dish
I see that my two major September outs from weeks back has made the rounds. Facebook readers know I gave you a clue two weeks back when I stated that it would be two males. Bye Bye old friend, "The Haunted Star" will miss you. The other one will start a riot. He will be revealed, as it gets closer to announcement time (a girl only has so much flame retardant on hand)! Another announcement is on it's way over the coming months. Some may feel betrayed, but don't be angry, performers are only acting in accordance to the gag orders placed in their contracts. It's why so many have later apologized to their fans for having to lie to them (they have no choice).
Now for the big one I have purposely avoided for a while now with good reason (it's that elephant in the room again). I have had many of you ask why I have been so strangely quiet when that certain leading lady was mentioned several times on my Facebook. You asked me why I never touched it ever again after I said the following in my May 22, 2011 column:
Many people are very happy with this news, but not everyone is jumping up and down. One major leading lady may be cut to bring back an old favorite, and one very front burner male may be cut back entirely! This is going to get interesting....
If nothing has been changed or tossed, expect to see Tamara Braun back on canvas once again. I don't make the news, I merely report it. This may have been tossed for all I know (I don't have ABC's offices wiretapped or anything)! When I first got wind of this (which led to that statement in my May column), I was sickened to be perfectly frank. I adore the woman in question who may find herself in danger contractually. Let us hope I am dead wrong (it's OK to be wrong). In this case, I welcome it.
Sonny is stunned by Brenda's betrayal. Alexis is sickened by Jax's new method in gaining legal ground over Carly. Brenda turns on Sonny, and as I mentioned back in January, may still leave with Jax in tow (her secret intact as well). I told you it would be a great summer for Ethan and Kristina, but like Romeo & Juliet, they have many obstacles ahead of them (some well meaning Port Charles residents make a mess of things first).
Spinelli's new persona gets him in trouble with Anthony. Maxie and Spinelli fans will be smiling here very soon. I told you a few weeks back that Alan Quartermaine was on his way back (it may not be in the way fans had hoped, but it's an olive branch we will happily accept nonetheless)! Champagne corks everywhere for fans of Jason and Sam!

I wish I didn't have this gut feeling, but since I've been predicting these days for about a decade, I just can't see things changing. I wish you all well, but I can't waste my time trying to save shows nobody wants. And that's what it boils down to. I don't see anyone wanting these shows.

From what I understand the shows are wanted but ABCDSelfish won't sell. Just what I heard ...there were offers but they won't sell..
JMO They know if The Spew were opposite OLTL they would look even more foolish (if that were possible) because OLTL would kick their selfish Spew hineys in the ratings.

People don't seem to realize how tight TV budgets are these days, but the broadcast networks are still the ones with the deepest pockets. Cable still gets by on a shoestring, so none of them can afford invest in expensive soaps that only bring in under half-a-million 18-49-year-olds. The only people who believe AMC and OLTL can be saved by some other outlet just don't have an understanding of how limited TV revenues are these days.
I know people quibble about the validity of the ratings system, but until advertisers ask for a different system, that's the one we have.

Who was it that won the EMMY this year for playing Carly? If TB, who I NEVER thought of as Carly, nor have appreciated her attempt at Carly, or any other character,returns to GH as Carly, I will never watch the show again. This is from someone that started watching the show on April 1, 1963.

It always amazes me how many say, "if so and so returns to whatever, I'll never watch again....." I stopped watching when LW came on. To me she's always been Cassie Winslow, never Carly. Some dignity might be returned to the character if Tamara comes back. The growth, maturity and dignity Tamara infused her Carly with the growth one needs for a long term character. What did LW say when she first came in, "My Carly is going to be closer to the original." Growth be damned.

Everyone is allowed to their own opinion................. that being said, Sarah Brown created Carly. Whenever a character is replaced, to make the character more believable, part should be played as close to the original as possible. TB as Carly, was so NOT Carly. She played the part mostly, as a no backbone person. Carly, is a character who stands up for herself, those that she loves, and God help those that cross her. TB played her as a sweet, romantic character, and THAT IS NOT CARLY ROBERTS. And yes, I do believe, LW's Carly, is right on the money to SB. Oh, and also, me saying that I will never watch again, is not a lame comment, my family was quite shocked by the statement. To break a 48 year "relationship" is saying something.

No, Claire Labine, Bob Guza, Karen Harris and Patrick Mulcahey created Carly. Sarah Brown PLAYED Carly. She didn't write her, she didn't create the situations Carly found herself in and she didn't pick her clothes... If I remember correctly during Brown's tenure, she wasn't a character with a backbone. She was a coniving little gutter snipe whose shelf life was coming to its expiration date. And I think you've missed the point to a character in a long-running soap opera format. Each character has to evolve in some way or the character becomes one note. Brown's Carly was becoming that. One note. And how many times did Jason and Sonny have to rescue Brown's Carly? Remember when Carly ran to Jason for protection from AJ? Remember meathook AJ? Remember the marriage of convenience Brown's Carly entered into with Sonny due only to stop her from testifying against him and Sonny wanting only the baby she carried? I don't recall Brown's Carly being, oh now what was it? A character with a backbone? Carly never stands up for herself. She always let others do the dirty work as she stood back being protected.
Come Panic Room.....Braun was a tour-de-force as she dealt with Ric Lansing all by herself without Sonny or Jason to come an rescue her. Braun's Carly played mindgames with Ric and won. That isn't a backbone, that's pure intellect...the aforementioned evolution of a character. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion for sure. However I was a Sarah Brown fan and I found her Carly becoming stale and one note. I stopped watching when Braun came in due in large part to her first weeks and subsequently turned the show back on in 2003 when Stephen Nichols came back as Stefan Cassadine, and I found the Carly I wanted to see Brown evolve into....but couldn't. Braun took Carly into womanhood and gave her substance and direction. Brown couldn't do that. Bransford, had she been given the chance, could have expanded Carly's horizons had the writing been there. As for Wright....what did she say again, oh I remember: "I'm going to be playing Carly closer to the original." Yes, and she also forgot there were two other actresses who played the part and made the character grow and mature and come to a state of self awareness. And those two women were Tamara Braun and Jennifer Bransford. Like you with Tamara Braun, should she come back, I stopped watching due to Wright's total disregard for those other two actresses because if Wright were a real actress, she'd have built on what Braun and Bransford did and uplift Carly. Instead, she's taken Carly back a decade. Not good in terms of character growth or development. If Braun should return, I will return. And what will happen? Carly will regain some of her independence and strength with Wolf at the helm. That I would look forward to.

Curious about the OLTL exits...Is the heroine leaving one of the two that are going to GH? Who exactly is a heroine on that show other than Vicki who I bet would stay on until the end.

I'm guessing Nora is the one with the limited role. She has a history of being in a coma.
I'm betting Tamara Braun will be the new Kate. I don't think Laura Wright is going anywhere. I just wonder whot he major actress is that may be cut. I have a feeling it's NLG but I really hope not.

GH only has two men: Jason and Sonny. Sonny hasn't been bringing home the bacon with his last few "romances." His character is stagnant, boxed in, and no one is willing to allow him the smallest growth. I think Sonny is the man who will be leaving GH which has been the all-about-Sonny show.
Jason is also stagnant. I hope they marry him to Sam so we can get a divorce and move them both on.
OR Jason and Sam marry and leave for Africa. In which case Sonny stays and there is still a reason to keep LW and bring on TB. But I think it's Sonny.
I will be sick in a bucket if Sonny ends up going off with Brenda.

A quick drive by here. My long time source who gave me the exclusive JFP/Tomlin/Valentini scoop that's been making the rounds, says that they are now thinking of giving Valentini a higher position at ABC with Gary Tomlin going straight to GH to take over for Phelps. That game of musical producers continues! Just keeping you in the loop! I haven't been around much as you know over the holiday weekend. They had been trying to get in touch with me since Saturday. As I said in my last update, I knew I had the players correct, just not 100% positive on the positioning. Things are beyond chaotic right now. Just wanted you to be prepared. It will either be Tomlin or Valentini who goes to GH. This is why I stated that having Tomlin on the loose would probably shake things up, and it looks like it may have. Things are getting very interesting. I knew the moment I heard the news about Tomlin exiting DOOL, that he would be thrown into this full throttle. More going on behind the scenes than in front of the camera! Just prepare yourself for either one because it's coming GH fans (I'm hearing September as I told you before, but that's not etched in stone). Merely passing on what I'm hearing. I hope to the heavens above this isn't true about Tomlin. He destroyed Days of our Lives beyond recognition. He cheapened the look of the show, hired actors who cannot not act (he famously told one actor that talent wasn't necessary), ruined established characters, shoved his favorites down viewers throats. I love GH and I don't want this man near the show. If people think JFP is bad, just wait. Tomlin is 1,000 times worse. Ugh.

Hey Guys,
So many of you have been readers of mine from way back (I have been writing this column for nearly 10 years). You know that the one thing I will never do is lie to you. I'm always up front with you no matter what. I've had excellent sources over the years that have given me incredible exclusives (including the cancellations as early as January long before it was announced anywhere). I had Trevor St John out in a February column because those sources have been nothing short of amazing. I'm actually surprised that we haven't had any major misses yet because that's standard when a show is going off the air (multiply this by 2 and you are dealing with twice the change, twice the amount of meetings that will be held and so forth). It's very hard to be accurate in this kind of climate, but so far, they have been incredible, and I am truly grateful.
I can be wrong, and freely admit this. I know it's inevitable, as we get closer to the end. There is no way that any of us can ever possibly get them all correct or have 100% accuracy (not even the actors know what's going on half the time) but what I won't do is lie to you. I get tidbits (never a play by play). None of us are told everything. I'm not God (shocking I know) so I can't tell you that this latest rumor is untrue (I can't). If it ends up coming to fruition, it will be a surprise for us all. This one came out of left field for everybody, which could be either really good or really bad. Really bad because none of us have heard a word on this from our sources, so it's pure smoke or really good because it's indeed true and was just kept very hush hush these past few months. Hopefully, we will all hear more on this tomorrow. I would hate to see the fans chains jerked yet again. If this is what's happening here, I am going to be livid. We have all been through quite enough.
What I will tell you is this, stay focused and keep pressure on the wound. We need to keep our efforts up until we get very clear confirmation on this (I would feel a lot better hearing this from Michael Logan). If this is a ploy to keep us placated and docile, then we have nothing to lose since we would still be keeping up all our efforts and fighting just as hard as we have been doing. If this turns out to be true, all of you who have been working your asses off out there on our behalf, should give yourselves a pat on the back. Susan Lucci was right (we are on fire). We have made a lot of noise out there. If this is true, you have yourselves to thank.
As for me, I remain hopeful but cautious. I look at most of you as a sort of extended family that I've had for many years. I do not want to see that family hurt and left disappointed again. Let's hope we get better clarification tomorrow. Sleep tight gang...............

Oh I hope this is the light at the end of the tunnel all of us have been hoping for!I'm keeping everything crossed that we'll have good news soon regarding our shows. I have a bottle of champagne dying to be opened in celebration. Praying to the 'soap gods' I won't have to open it to console me in sorrow.

Excellent news - but there's also a lot of logistics to be ironed out - new contracts, questions about what kind of budget they'll be able to work with - and...of course this probably means a NIGHTMARE of even FURTHER massive rewrites for the remaining ABC broadcast episodes!
...and speaking of writing, that leaves the big question of who the writing staffs will consist of. If RC is headed to OLTL, it's going to need a new headwriter - someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get Michael Malone/Josh Griffith on the phone!

I know a lot of long-timers feel that way, but I really never enjoyed Malone or Griffin's style. I love Carlivati and Valentini and want them to stay put!
