I have to say Alex, your whole rant against the FPS smacks a little of sour grapes. Your stallion was poorly behaved at the gradings, which could explain why you didn't get the grade you were hoping for.

It seems fairly obvious to me that the way to promote the Baroque Friesian is to breed decent animals that can be registered with the FPS, not breed with an unapproved stallion and stand on the sidelines, sticking two fingers up at the FPS and FHAGBI, saying "Mine are better than yours". The only way to promote the Baroque types is to PROVE they are better, which means being within the present system.

I love the Baroque type, indeed, my previous Friesian was baroque, he looked like a war horse, but I would not be at all interested in buying one if it didn't have proper papers (mine was a registered horse with a 2nd premie, proving that baroque sorts CAN do well at gradings).

As a breeder, you have an opportunity to do something about it. Or, you can just whinge. Up to you.
