It takes 3 generations. Offspring from a BB2 mare is registered in BB1, offspring of the BB1 mare would be registered BB1 as well, offspring of that 2nd BB1 mare would be registered in the main books.

Yes, it does take longer that way, but not everyone can afford a Friesian otherwise. This mare was given to me, she came from a very strong damline with mostly Model Pref. mares behind it.

It doesn't matter now, since she passed away last week...
