] Date Posted: 6/12/07 16:50 Hi I do not post here very often at all, but I love the website! All the people that do post here seem like a lovely creative bunch, soooooo... I wondered if anyone has any nice wedding ceremony, reception ideas. I am getting married on summer solstice, and wanted to use the festival as inspiration for the day. Any ideas would be gratefully received! BB Firegem [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 7/12/07 0:49 MM Firegem, Firstly congrats on your forthcoming ceremony. Ideas for getting married on a Soltice? difficult to say really without knowing a time. Most of the sites would be busy in the morning for sun up but in theory would be empty toward the latter parts of the day. I did attend a wedding and hand fasting a few years back at nine ladies which was wonderful, One of the best weddings / receptions I have attended was held in someones back garden, firearches, the works. Date Posted: 10/12/07 4:14 Hi Firegem, and Congratulations! :) My partner and I were going to have a solstice ceremony, we had to change our plans / dates to suit some family members (kind of regret that now) but it was still a lovely day. We had a barefoot ceremony in my parents garden, with a small gathering of close friends and family, and hung ribbons in the trees. (Dad later planted a rose bush to mark the occasion - called the Wedding Rose, and it's beautiful!!). My bouquet was a small bunch of flowers, grasses, herbs and wheat we picked in the morning during a relaxing walk to calm down before everyone started arriving lol (I still have it too). I made my own dress (it ended up being a top and skirt as a dress seemed a little much for my first attempt at dressmaking lol)... and one day we're going to have another ceremony... just because we can! :) Personally I'm not really one for any of the big sacred sites (especially not on festival days/nights - as Pagonwolf said, most of them will be busy too) I'd much rather go for finding a place that is special for personal reasons, or a place that has that 'spark' feeling. Any ideas for how / where you'd like to have your ceremony yet? [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
