But still I should not moan when weman in africa carry it for ten mill on their heads in hot sun and every drop is vital. My hands have become so sore and dry and I was wondering if anyone could tell a natrual remady to put on them. Date Posted: 26/07/07 17:35 Hi Katie, there's quite a few natural remedies (depending what you have to hand) : Olive Oil is a natural emollient which will soothe and soften dry skin Honey (if you can resist licking it all off lol!) Aloe Vera - do you have an aloe vera plant? if you snap off one of the 'leaves' and smear the clear gel on your skin you will find that so soothing! (avoid the mroe yellow coloured gel at the base of the leaf stems, this bit is a skin irritant) Natural yogurt and oatmeal (the oatmeal will slough off dead skin cells as well as nourish) Banana mashed up with a little honey and smeared over your skin will also help and Apricot, Peach and Mango pulp are also softening. I like to use neat lemon juice to soothe dry skin on elbows - cut the end of the lemon and gently rub the fleshy side into the skin, leave to dry and wash off with water and pat dry. Chamomile and Calendula are both soothing and softening for the skin (you could put a heaped teaspoon of chamomile flowers into a small piece of cotton/muslin fabric, soak it in hot water and then squeeze the bag over/on your skin) I hope some of these ingredients are handy and help soothe your sore hands. Take care. Blessings whitewolf [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
