ohh i do love to meditate.

I cant remember when it was now, gotta be at least a year ago almost, but I got some helpful meditation tips from Zenwind. and I get on best with those kinds, and doing those definitely helped me gain focus more,

im so sorry i cant remember the name of them, I am sure zen will know, but i concentrate on feeling love, and i send love out first to myself, then my loved ones, and i keep going until i can even send out love to those that might of hurt me or offended me during the day or the week. Until I am at peace, and calm.

It tends to go from there really, I like chanting the SOHUM chant, and raising arms and releasing again, I think this translates to I AM, or just the universal sound of OM is good to chant while meditating.

More recently I have been doing various yoga techniques and then medtiating after, and I have found a sense of calm comes a lot more easily.

i don't know if it is classed as a meditation technique, but i kind of concentrate on relaxation techniques. i sometimes find it hard to relax at the end of the day, so i do the whole relaxing from top to toe kinda thing, then i think of those to send love to as i fall asleep... i may be strange i dunno, hmmmm i'm interested in other ways of meditating tho.

I like the defination of meditation given on the MeditationCenter site :
There are many types of meditation. The one definition that fits almost all types is..."Consciously directing your attention to alter your state of consciousness."
http://www.meditationcenter.com

The following site also has useful articles and currently has a free downloadable meditation course : http://www.project-meditation.org/

I used to do the classic type of meditaion- the sighting crossed legged- but haven't done so for ages now. I really need to get back to it as I found it was a big help, not only in relaxing me at the end of the day but in helping me be more relaxed in general.

I've been trying a sort of active meditation recently...thanks to a certain Whitewolf :) I keep getting distracted with what is going on around me at work though.

I certainly notice the difference when I do meditate on a regular basis though, I'm far less wound up and tense.

Wolfie.

I know this will sound to some that this is a stupid way to meditate. But if I ever feel stressed out then I will close my eyes and think of somwhere that I have been to abroad. For instance when I was in thiland and went to this budhist temple and the monks were chanting there was somthing so peacful and comfroting about it and always take myself back to moment and it always gives me peace within my soul.

Or if have somthing troubling me then I will go cloud gazing and find a cloud to put my trouble on and blow all the stress away that is cluttering up my mind and then everything will seem much clear.

Blessings to all

Katie

I usually just put on some soothing music, close my eyes and focus on my breathing. Every once in a while I use a guided meditation CD but not usually.
