I think we should have a party in the garden, so many things to celebrate...Sam, Jade, heck all of us.
Now what do we all need. I would like drums and fairy lights.

lolol this has turned into an almighty banquet not a party lolol.

i am in the mood for one. its my birthday on monday needless to say i will be at the pc studying lol. but I will be out at the weekend with friends, we are booked into a rather nice wine bar here, so that will be cool. then sunday i have my family over. so thats err yeah my family hehe.

so this party... banquet.. we need a huge cauldron for a chocolate fondu as well as pumpkin soup!!

some music, outdoors in the garden, preferably with like a hugee gazebos set up with loads of cushions underneath so we can all just sit about and be all squishy, and lots of floaty things hanging around to make it all magical with mushroom seats arounda huge wooden table erm ok i will be quiet now..

Jade that sounds marvolous!!!
I do hope you have a really happy happy weekend and a wonderful day full of magic on monday.....

Can we play the song 'dancing in the moonlight'?
it makes me feel so happy, and we can all have a dance around our Pc's instead of our handbags in the garden... thinking of that... i'll go collect some wood for the fire.

love
Sam xx

This food is all too British. How about a few dolmathes, some skorthalia, a dish or two of yigantes, some houmous and tzatziki, and plenty of baklavas, all washed down with a glass or two of retsina or, for those of a sweeter tooth, mavrodaphne?

I could almost be persuaded to get into the party mood for that!

Ellinas.

Heee-hee...

Just indulging in that mischievous sense that one who will eat anything has when suggesting a menu...!

Dolmathes are stuffed vine leaves, usually stuffed with rice and onion.

Skorthalia is potato mashed with (lots of) garlic and served cold as a sort of relish or sauce. The last time I ate it the ratio was 15 cloves of garlic to 3 potatoes, but it doesn't have to be that strong.

Yigantes are butter beans, baked and often served in a spicy sauce.

Houmous is a dip/spread made of chickpeas, garlic and olive oil.

Tzatziki is also a dip/spread, made of Greek yoghurt, cucumber and olive oil.

Baklavas is a very sweet pastry, constructed out of filo, stuffed with nuts (often pistachios) and pretty well drowned in honey.

Retsina is wine flavoured with pine resin.

Mavrodaphne is a red wine, unusual for reds in that it is sweet.

Some of the above may well sound unappetizing, but it is actually very tasty.

Not that I'm averse to chocolate - preferably with no less than 70% cacao.

Ellinas.

The skorthalia recipe is on Dragonswood. I've eaten but never made the rest, but I know the Tzatziki is straight forward. I'll do some research.

M&S do a good baklavas - though they spell it without the final "s". It's better still if you can get it from a continental market.

mmmmmmmmmm Baklava!!! delicious stuff!!! (feeling rather peckish now). There was a fantastic little greek cafe in Cardiff (on Salisbury Road and I think it was called 'Katerina's' - not sure if it's still there) and they did the BEST Baklava I have ever tasted. Truly Divine!!

OOOOOh Fooooood, my fav thing!! Glad you had a good one Jadey, will quiz you more about that later! Did you know that Organic Chocolate does not have any calories????? Well, in my house it does not anyways...... I lurve Baklava, actually had Retsina on my hen night, a trillion years ago!! Love all of the above really. Oh, if I had come to your Party Jade I would have brought large amounts mead, choccy cake and stuffed my self silly!

I have a recipe for a Choc Rum cake (you can use Carob instead of Choc if you like!) an' it takes only 5.5mins in the microwave, yum! Lemme know if anyone want's it!!!!

Burp, pardon! Off to bed now honest. Happy Birthday to Whitewolf too, all be it late. Hugs. Rowan Moon.xx

Jade - I'm Welsh by birth and current residence, but think of myself as Greek at heart! Strange really...!

I think retsina is available through the larger Tesco's stores, or maybe via their internet site, if anyone's interested.

Kalee orexee (Bon appetit)!
