if you look in most baby naming books they'l often tell you the origins of the names and quite a few of them come from pagan pre-christian societies. Celtic, gaeilic, nordic, germanic and others. I named my youngest daughter Rhiannon - a celtic Goddess.
You could decide on using numerology and find the numbers whoses energy you wish to take on, then work out a name from that. Otherwise you can use runic letters to spell out a name you make up which acts like a bind rune. ( a selection of runes that work on each others energy to increase or effect its power). Decide which runes you want to embody (the leaves of yggrdrasil by freya aswyn is a really good reference book) and make up your name from that.
hope this helps

I'm Ash, derived from Ash tree and Ash groves, also an English translation of Ask, the first male in norse mythology. Also Yggdrasil was an Ash tree, and it is the tree that connects all cycles of life...I am lucky to have a pagan name.

well first of all Anthony is a roman/latin name which means priceless, or of Antonius which I believe is a place.
If you wanted to change it to runic script you would need to use A -Ansuz (god conciousness),N-Nauthiz (restriction, debt of karma, needfire),T-Teiwaz(spear or arror, law and order)H-Hagalaz, (past and negative experiences), O-Othila (Gift of fertility, inheritance, blood and soil) N-Nauthiz again, Y-Inguz (gestation, initiation, dark night of soul).

you could also do it using the ogham script - again there are books that give detail of what they mean.

if you look up the runes and find out which ones you are attracted to, you could make up your own name incorporating each of these. It means some research and time, but if you are serious about it that shouldnt mean any hardship.
I hope this is a little more helpful x

by the way Ash, Im sure you know your name using the ogham script/beth luis nion tree calander is NION - (for connection to the worlds/world tree)

You should try the same link as I did, but put your name on the end. May work better for you than it did for me, if anything you will have a good read.

Blessings to all
