i am frustrated after reading so many different things on paganims.

as pagans believe so many different things what is the ONE belief that holds them all together?

What is the ONE thing we all as pagans have here in common?

otherwise is not multi faith path just the way to go?

Here we meet again....
To me, I believe in a bit of this and a bit of that. I like Daoism. But would class myself as Pagan because I feel there love of all things works for me. It is confusing, I'm still confused myself, but I keep what work and reject what dos'nt.
What is the one thing we all have in common?..
To me, its that we care.
Big huggs to you Sweetsong

Hi

My perception of the world seems to closely relate to those in the documentation of zen buddhism but am sure the experiences I have will be shared by all sorts of people. In terms of cosmology I pretty much have a daoist idea of things. What I have in common with everyone here.....they are me, I am them....so love.

peace
zenwind

Erisianism for me.
That the power of chaos of discord, death and destruction is a positive force that is the doorway to creation and adaption.
To understand that death can be positive. The death of a bad habbit, to kill a bad virus, to destroy that which is no longer beneficial.
Chaos is the one surviving power in my opinion and I find that in other pagan paths the whole "death opens doorways" is quite correct and ties into a small aspect of discordianism.

i agree with that ash. death is not a problem but nor is life either. maybe all just different forms of life tho.

i like taoism too newy and zenwind. makes sense to me. to not fight with what comes our way....learn to go with the flow.

of course i am not as learned as you zenwind on eastern philosphies.

looks like we are all different but agree in no one god perhaps?? is this the key factor we all share?

Perhaps the one thing Pagans have in common is the tolerance they share for all others on the Pagan path....

We all walk our own path... no two paths can be identical as we all experience things differently...

Doubtless you will find a different answer from almost everyone you ask with this one sweetsong... a lot will depend on how the individual defines 'Paganism' - for many, the term Paganism is a broad-umbrella-like term referring to paths which do not fall into the Abrahamic religions (under this definition Hinduism, for example, would fit under the Paganism umbrella).
Others may choose to only place those paths they view as 'Earth Traditions' under the Pagan umbrella...indigenous belief systems... paths which have a focused relationship with (and reverence for) Nature at their heart.

hmmmm.... the difficulties you will find in defining Paganism are akin to those difficulties you will find in defining Hinduism... it is often said that there are as many definitions of Hinduism as there are Hindus... the same can be said for Paganism :)

hello - just thought id add my two penneth here too - hope you dont mind. I once wrote that if you put 100 pagans in a room together and asked them what a pagan is you'd get a 100 different answers. The main thing for paganism for me is respect for anothers path even if it isnt yours (i dont expect the mothership to come get me but i know many others do!) the other main requirement is a care for nature and our mother earth, and a desire to live in harmony with her and the seasons as much as we can.

To sweetsong,

This may be a nice thing to let swirl about your being for a while....

I Have Learned So Much by Hafiz, Sufi

I
Have
Learned
So much from God
That I can no longer
Call
Myself

A Christian, a Hindu, a Muslim,
A Buddhist, a Jew.

The Truth has shared so much of Itself
With me

That I can no longer call myself
A man, a woman, an angel,
Or even pure
Soul.

Love has
Befriended Hafiz so completely
It has turned to ash
And freed
Me

Of every concept and image
My mind has ever known.
