In reply to: Kelly 's message, "Peoria Tribute & Floods" on 09/20/08 9:31am

I am not sure why the newpaper did not run an article about the tribute. Perhaps the river flooding took precedence. The name of the photographer was unfamiliar to me and she apparently really didnt have a clue as to what the day was all about. It was great that she took a number of photos of Ralph's World, because, uhhhhhh, he is a hottie, IMHO. However, I was disappointed, but am thankful for the one dude that posted and for you providing the link.

DB--Have you or are you planning to go to the Tribute concert up in Door County? I thought I recalled you saying you might attend one.

Yeah, I was surprised there wasn't a write-up on the concert also, but I think you're right that it was due to the river flooding. The flood was a bigger story and affected more people. They were probably pretty busy covering that. Hope everything's getting back to normal there now.

I was also surprised they allowed the concert to continue with all the water in opera house. Lucky they did though. I read that they had to stop the show for awhile to pump the water out, and the fire department showed up. That must've been crazy. Were you worried the DF All-Stars wouldn't get to go back on?

The water was in front of the stage, not all over the entire building...though there was a good amount of water, it was safely pumped out.

I was not privy as to why the Fire Department was there. They may have been there to help with pumping out the water.

The crowd was not crazy at all; I think everyone was just hoping to continue with the tribute in a safe atmosphere. People continued to visit with each other and partake of beverages.

I never once gave it a thought as to if the tribute would or would not continue. Obviously, there was a problem with the water...it was taken care of...no one was panicstricken...and the show did go on!
