The picture with the empty chair would have had me crying at the show!! What a tender moment. Wish we could have heard some of the music too. Maybe someone will come up with a memorial CD sometime.

Yeah, I was glad to see that picture posted. I thought it was a really sweet touch. It was the first thing we saw when we entered the theater to find our seats. Very touching....and there were more than a few tears shed.

Seeing the pictures made me think of something that happened right before the start of the show. It was sort of a strange and sad moment. Tom Hampton came out to welcome everyone, but also to make sure everyone understood that the show was a tribute to Dan. He mentioned that apparently a few folks had come to the show expecting to hear Dan play......unaware he had passed away. He offered his appologies, and you could feel the sorrow in his voice. It was hard for me to imagine anyone not knowing, but at the same time I couldn't help feeling so sad for anyone to come expecting to see Dan, and then to find out. It had to be a tough moment for them. And a tough moment for Tom also.

I thought the same thing that night, Kelly. I remember my reaction when mountainbird called me to tell me that Dan was gone. I can't imagine going through that shock and grief in a public place expecting to actually see Dan that night.

It sure would have been a great place to see Dan play....a nice intimate little theater. But anywhere would feel like a great place to see him now. Hard to believe it's been almost a year. It just doesn't feel like it was that long ago.
