Jean posted new photos.. I was getting worried about her. She was not around for a while. I know she has tons of stuff on her plate but I missed her. She is our connection!
Oh the pics are wonderful as are the stories. My favorite is Illinois..what about you.

Hi Bianca,

I don't think I've seen you post here before, so Welcome. If you have posted here before, Welcome anyway. If you click on the ram's skull at the bottom of the photo page, you'll find a second page of photos. That's where the new ones are. I like the one taken on the back porch in Maine. It's so unlike any I've seen of Dan before, with a tweed driving cap. And Abby's sitting there like that second chair is "her" spot. She probably had a chair at the dinner table, too.

I am an old lurker, not much of a poster, but a dedicated Dan fan. I went back and found the pictures, so many good ones there. I like the professor Dan look on the porch too, or is that a sailor at rest look ? Such a handsome man!

I'm amazed to see him whipping up another fabulous concoction knowing that, less than four months later, he'd be gone. He certainly had fortitude and determination. It was so easy to think he'd make it.

I really really like the photo taken at U of I. I always thought they should honor Dan with an honorary music degree. I am sure it wouldnt have really mattered to him, but it would have been a nice gesture.

As Jean noted, it is a beautiful campus. My husband and I enjoyed hanging out for various events while our son was attending...football games, Dad's Day, Mom's Day, music concerts...happy family memories!

Jean is really so special to share her photos with us!! I love any photo of Dan since I think he was one of the most handsomest men I have ever seen!! Wouldnt it be great if Jean posted some of Dan's favorite recipes!! Somehow I could never see him being so domestic-always thought of him in his bachelor days as opening a can and heating up whatever!! But I sure would have loved him cooking a meal for me!! Sounds like he was one terrific chef!! Its kind of comforting to think Dan was strong and well enough, 4 months before he passed, to still be sailing, enjoying cooking and being with friends. Oh, how I still feel so sad he is gone....

What a wonderful thought to see some recipes of Dan's. A cookbook fundraiser...Wish Jean could see this to get the idea. I agree that I never saw a photo of Dan I did not like..he was as perfect as you could get..
