From the Peoria Journal Star:

...Ginger Lester, co-president of the Chamber of Commerce in Deer Isle, Maine, a quiet community where Fogelberg lived with his wife Jean, said the family has no public funeral or memorial service planned at this point.

"It's very low key," Lester said. "(Fogelberg) always has been very low profile here on the island. He's going to be cremated; I do not know where the ashes are going to be put. I have some ideas. Most of us here, I think we've pretty much figured it out."

Lester said condolence cards for the family can be mailed to Jean Fogelberg at P.O. Box 747, Deer Isle, ME 04627. She also suggested that fans could make a donation to cancer research in Fogelberg's name at www.prostatecancerfoundation.org/danfogelberg.

Thanks for posting this Mary. I hadn't read that. I'm not sure how I feel about sending a card. My heart is full of sadness and sympathy for his loved ones, but in some ways it just doesn't feel appropriate to send a card. I don't know.....at least the address is there if we want to express our condolences.

There's been so many articles on Dan, it's hard to take it all in. It's wonderful to read so many flattering write-ups, but does it make anyone else wonder where all these people have been? Why couldn't these appreciative sentiments been out there for Dan to see before he was gone?

I hope he knew how much he was loved and appreciated. I hope he felt respected. I hope he's smiling now and making music up in heaven. Maybe he'll send some down, muse-like, to some worthy minstral to share with the rest of us.

God bless him.

Kelly
