i'm always hearing conflicting messages about this...for instance, a lot of muscle-y gym buffs drink protein shakes to "bulk up", put on muscle mass (Gain).

conversely, people also say that protein burns off fat easier and assists in weight LOSS. this confuses me.

the reason i ask, my mom bought me this shake mix, that gives you 44% of your daily protein (as opposed to the 0-10% i get now), and i'm terrified to drink it because i exercise a lot, i'm very active, and dont want to get bulky, or put on ANY weight. period. i'd like to lose about an extra 10 lbs. i know it's possible to gain muscle mass and look thinner, but i dont want to do that. i have 10 lbs that must be gone. so my question is, if i get about 44% to 60% percent of my daily protein value, will i "bulk up" or just lose fat (and weight)?
