I'm another who is not bone thin, probably because I am older than most of you. I'm not ana now, but I remember severely depriving in the past for months and then finally just plunging into a several-week eat-fest (even stuff I didn't even like). Suddenly, it was like my body was saying "OK that's it; I'm taking control now." I NEVER used to overeat, but I lost all control for weeks because I had deprived myself for too long. When I eat more reasonably, that does not happen. (BTW--the net damage from the eat-fest was not that bad, maybe 5 pounds. I thought I was going to turn into a blimp, but no one even noticed.)

What I'm saying is, I really think there's a physical component to this (the deprivation/overeating pattern) that transcends your will and your self control. I'm not a professional, but for me eating a reasonable amount of healthy food works.
