Author: Evelance, Darlith
Subject: Please, please forgive me...

But I won’t be home again...

Evelance walked slowly, trembling slightly, through the halls of the Barracks. Her long black hair was acting as a shield to the outside world, and the soft footsteps’ rhythm was all she’d allow in for now. All she could bear from now was the gentle, stead, and never-changing sounds of footsteps. A pale-white hand was pulled up against the woman’s heart, icy blue eyes downcast. Long strides. That was all.

Blue Darlith strode calmly behind his rider. The intelligence of this particular blue was considered high, and he knew that when Lance acted so, she was not to be bothered, especially by him. When the blue tried before to touch her mind in these seemingly-critical (or, at least to him) moments of her life, she’d block him out, and space out even more. The only word he’d get out of her then was this; Torlenth.
So the blue strode on quietly, hoping beyond hope that the lively, excited young woman would one-day return. While she was not the most pleasant person to deal with, she was far from dull at times. However, right now was more of a ‘I’m stuck somewhere else’ moment.

Lance was in the past throughout much of her life, though she tried to overcome it. She looked down, and sighed at the small, thin scars across her wrists. An accident. Yeah, it was a sharding accident that the healers had saved her. Then again, she had to admit it was frightening, that moment when she thought she’d die.

Maybe someday you’ll look up...

She shook her head. No one cared about that anymore. Including her. She was forgotten long ago among her people, so she should forget, too.
She winced. The familiar face in her mind... the soft, bronze-gold hair, spiked up with some unknown mixture; deep green eyes, filled with such emotion; the strong arms around her... it was all too much.
She’d dreamt of him last night, possibly why she was so depressed. She’d do anything for him, but...
She stopped, and choked momentarily on tears. They’d stopped in front of her weyr by now, and she hesitated, then entered. She daintily fell onto her bed, determined not to cry, to do anything but cry...
She was out of reach. She was unattainable. She didn’t need anyone...

‘Lance...’

She could still here the voice, whispering to her. What made her dwell so on this? She would never know, probably. Though, she knew one thing; she was gone from all she used to know, all she hated...

...and all she loved...

And barely conscious, you’ll say to no one...

Sighing to herself as the picture refused to leave, she remembered all the questions she wished to ask... above all, the one she whispered aloud:

"Isn't something missing?"
