Though he had never really been good with children – he had none of his own, for obvious reasons, so he had never really come into contact with them – G’rein knew the basics. Be nice. Be calm. Don’t use words they don’t understand…how much did a four turn old understand? He’d have to ask someone who knew about these things. Maybe Rinali, if he could find her. But the greenrider did find himself looking on Salzay with a certain degree of affection. She was, after all, the child of his best friend.

“Alright then, let’s see if she’s still there.” He suggested, rising to his feet and motioning for her to walk beside him. “Do you like your Daddy, Sally?”

It had never bothered G’rein that he wouldn’t have children – not biologically his, anyway – because he didn’t really know how to handle them. Some people, like W’ntyr, were made to be parents. What about X’thrall, he wondered. Would he like children? Stupid – even the thought of his weyrmate was enough to make him smile. It had taken him a while to realise that he was in love with the bluerider, but now he knew. And he was entirely happy.

((Talking of X’thrall…weren’t he and Elaini supposed to sleep together during the flight? We need to get a move on!))
