Rather belatedly, D'minic realizes he may have truly offended D'ctor, as the bronzerider begins to circle him ominously. He's not quite sure how to take Whoth's appearance, though; surely D'ctor wouldn't need his dragon there to yell at D'minic? The expression on the older man's face is familiar, a rider talking to his dragon, and uncertainty comes to dominate D'minic's thoughts. Right. I guess this'll be just a reminder that I need to shut my mouth tighter, he decides, mentally bracing for a tongue-lashing of some sort. Usually, when people in authority start looking at him like that, they're either annoyed with him, or looking for a "volunteer" for some kind of unpleasant job. While the latter is much more common, as D'minic's "crimes" tend to be occasional harmless pranks rather than anything actually harmful to someone else, a bronzerider probably doesn't have unpleasant jobs to hand out - well, a Wingleader yes, but if he was just given the title tonight he wouldn't have anything he needs done yet, would he? - so though that's what D'minic faces more often, he can only assume it's the other option.

Watching the flow of his rider's mind, Ulyssanth sighs in a mix of exasperation and disappointment. If he's annoyed, he won't take us with him, will he? the young dragon laments. He'd been excited for a moment there. Maybe he really was reorganizing, and he's angry because you called him a liar. Refolding his wings, the brown drops from a dignified crouch to a sprawl, and his eyes whirl at an odd angle as he tries to peer at the bronze firelizard perched on the tip of his nose.

Uh-oh. D'minic hadn't expected that. Before he can start panicking - just bugging a senior bronzerider isn't that bad, but accusing him of lying, even backhandedly, could actually make him angry - D'ctor closes the door and turns to stand in front of him. The Wingleader's words, fortunately, aren't angry, though he does sound a bit dangerous. (Unfortunately, D'minic is not of the proper inclination to notice the sexiness of D'ctor's tone, and therefore it is entirely wasted on him.) Even if the question didn't sound ever-so-faintly promising, D'minic would have nodded; that tone doesn't make it sound very safe to argue. "Of course not, Wingleader." D'ctor goes on, and D'minic pauses for a moment when the bronzerider is done, his mind clicking frantically through the options. Is there a less juvenile and annoying way to ask if he can come along?

Just ask! Ulyssanth suggests, temporarily losing his fuzzy focus on Homer. When he manages to cross his eyes properly again, a green firelizard has joined the bronze and is prodding the edge of one of his nostrils, trying to make it work as a pillow. Don't be rude, but ask before he tells you to go away!

D'minic takes a deep breath and plunges in. "Can- could Ulyssanth and I help with your, um-" The word that comes to mind is 'adventure', of course, but with the way D'ctor is looking at him and the purpose of the journey makes the brownrider scramble for a more official-sounding word. "Your inspection?" Shards. Not the word he'd been looking for. Of course, now that he's said it, "survey" immediately pops into his head. Oh, well, I've already said it.
