Subject: How To Meet New Sims?

Hi, I'm from the Islands and just recently moved all the way to Sim Nation to study at the Pleasantville branch of the Sim State University. Anyway, I just finished my Freshman year and I have to admit that I had my nose in my books, big time! lol I'm the first one in my family to go to uni and even though it's really exciting, it's also a whole lot of pressure. But, I made Dean's list and have an A+ avg, so I think it'll be ok to do a little bit of relaxing this next year and hopefully meet new sims. Here's my question, (I know, finally! right? lol):

Will I ever bring home friends from class with me? And, other than that, when's the best time to go to the coffee shop to make friends? The last time I went, the cab took so long to get there that I had to leave like 1/2 hour after I got there and didn't have time to talk to any sims! Anyway, thanks for answering my questions if you know the answers.
