The Walker Valley Fire Company is holding a car wash on Saturday May 8 from 9:00am to 1:00pm at the firehouse to raise funds for their 100 Year Anniversary Celebration. Organizer Mike Centorcilli asks the community to come out and support the hard working men and women who make up the fire company.

Then on Sunday May 9 come back to the firehouse during the hours of 7:00am – 12:00noon and treat those moms out there to a delicious pancake breakfast in honor of Mother’s Day. Contact Kelli Greer at 845.744.8757 for more information on either of these events.

There will be a whole lot of dancing going on in the Pine Bush Catholic War Vets social hall on Saturday May 8. Not Just Country Line Dancing will be holding workshops and dancing from 11:00am to 3:30pm for beginner and intermediate level participants. Cost at the door is $25.00 per person with lunch on your own. For an additional $5.00 you can attend the open dance that will be held later that day from 5:00-9:00pm. If you just want to show up for the open dance the cost at the door will be $10.00 per person. All experience levels are invited to join us! Email ldancer5678@hotmail.com for more information. The Walker Valley Reiki Healing Circle will be in the schoolhouse on Tuesday May 18 for their regular monthly session starting with a meditation at 7:00pm. If you are interested in Reiki or any other type of energy work this is a good place to start. Practitioners are available to demonstrate the modality as they take turns practicing their techniques on each other or guests who attend the session. Donations are appreciated. The Master Gardeners at the Cornell Cooperative Extension continue their series of workshops on Tuesday May 18 from 7:00-9:00pm with one on roses. There are many different types available today and this presentation also covers their culture and care. Common pests and diseases will also be discussed.
