Subject: Local Laws Officer Evacuate Residents

On the 16th Decemebr 2005, the Caloundra City Council Local LAws Officers and administration staff evacuated and manned the Coummunity Centre in Buddina, ensuring evacuated residents recieved food , comfort and medical attention.

In the early hours of the 16th of December 2005 the largest blaze experienced on the Sunshine Coast was started by youths setting fires to the rubbish bins out side the Spotlight Store in Minyama.

Local Laws Officer Neil Amos was out on a call out at 4:30am for wandering stock when he was called by the Queensland Fires Service requesting more water pressure.

From this call Officers were asked to also man the traffic control in and around the fire site, so the QFS perform their work.

All residents surrounding the fire were asked to evacuate their homes. The local laws officers from Caloundra City Council swung into action organising buses to move the resident to the community centre.

Through out the day officers were patrolling the area of the residents ensure that no homes were broken in to. Also there were medicals needs for some residents, this was again oraganised by these officers and administration officers of the Local Law unit for the Caloundra City Council.

SUBWAY provided food for the residents throughout the day, BIG W always provided Quilts, with THE WHAREHOUSE provided pillows to those in need.

The officers organised Bingo and cards to occupy the time of the residents until such time they were able to return to their homes.

In a time of need the local law officer are called upon to provide a service above and beyond what they are required.

So to all those who werer involved in this incredible feat CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This was a job well done.

I encourage all officer to forward their congratulations to these Officers. Contact number for these officers is as follows (07) 5420 8200.
