With apologies to Alfred and Ruud, more research shows that DFDS may be a better option. P and O haver npow advised me that ONLY the standard fare is available with their GOME offer. This means that you can sail on the ferry booked or the one immediately before/after. Because P and O sail every hour this means that you have about a two hour period to arrive at Calais. If you miss this window you have to book again without a rebate.

DFDS have fewer sailings and sail roughly every 2 hours. They also allow you to use the one before/after (subject to availability) without surcharge but because of the gap between sailings you have a four hour arrival window.
As an example, booking the 15.30 crossing on Friday 14th would mean that you can use the 13.30 or the 18.00 ferry. Cost as at today is 39 Euro minus 10% discount.
To book this offer, the process is:
1/ Go to www.dover.groupbookings@dfds.com
2/ Give them Date/Time/Name/Address/Contact tel no/Vehicle and reg number. Also mention Guyild of Motor Endurance
3/ They call you back to confirm and collect payment.

The dates window for the offer is the same as for P and O, between Friday 14th to Sunday 17th Sept.

Cheers

Pete C
