State of Washington Is Not Being Allowed To Prepare for A Nuke Attack

A law in the Democrat-controlled state of Washington reportedly prohibits officials from piecing together an evacuation plan for a nuclear attack.

“State law does not allow any advanced planning,” Karina Shagren of the state’s Emergency Management Division told local station KING.

The law in question is RCW 38.52.030, an absurd ordinance signed by a Democrat governor in 1995 that specifically states, “The comprehensive, all-hazard emergency plan authorized under this subsection may not include preparation for emergency evacuation or relocation of residents in anticipation of nuclear attack.”

Speaking with KING, retired Gen. Barry McCaffrey referred to the law as “goofy.”

You don’t say.

“Certainly it’s a goofy thing to not tell people to think about a major real threat,” he remarked. “What we’re trying to achieve is deterrence, which means ballistic missile defense.”

But to truly comprehend the inanity of this ridiculous ordinance, one need only consider the reason why former Democrat state legislator Dick Nelson wrote it in the first place. He claimed that he wanted to create an example of peace. Moreover, he felt no regrets.

“I haven’t abandoned my basic belief that we need to find peaceful ways of dealing with the nuclear threat,” he told KING, cautioning that he did at least recognize that “we have a crazy dictator who could do anything.”

He meant North Korean despot Kim Jong Un, whose bizarre behavior and ambitions for obtaining nuclear weapons have left the world in a nervous state.

Nelson was right about the “need to find peaceful ways” of dealing with Kim, but he was dead wrong in his, frankly, idiotic belief that his state should not prepare for the worst.

In many ways, the guy is a perfect example of the legions of utopia-chasing liberal goofballs who base their decisions on dreams of “Kumbaya” versus facts. Logic dictates that one ought to always protect oneself (or one’s constituents) from harm, but Nelson’s reasoning or the lack thereof apparently says otherwise.
