My gran ( margaret thomas ) was the cleaner of the club just after the war and I can remember going to help her and throwing sand onto the floor around the snooker tables.
I remember that the caretaker lived in Newtown and I seem to remember him as a large gentleman. My uncle Stan Donavon was the MC for dancing in later years and I think that my father Ossie Rich was steward for a short time.

if i remember keith colebroke, bought the stute, as i do know when the flats were built there they belonged to him, his wife was a solicitor!

Thanks for that.... At least now I have a name to go on. Funny though how all the stone vanished overnight... Doed anyone know if that was a private deal?
