(hey, just finished HS too. Yay Class of 05!)
Keao was a little taken aback by Yema's gruffness and the fact that she'd called her a child. She was 13 after all, hardly a child.
But she stayed calm, sensing immedietly that it would be best for her to stay in this woman's good graces. "I'm Keao." she began. "I came here because I heard that there were blind people like me working as wherhandlers. I've always been good with animals, raised canines and took care of the other beasts back at my Hold, but I thought this would be the best place for me. I can navigate really well in the dark of course, and even if I don't Impress a wher (is that what you call it?) I suppose I can help you around here somehow. And when I heard that green of what's-her-name's was about to clutch, I figured something had told me to come to the Weyr at this tine." She stopped to catch her breath and wait for Yema's reaction. She knew she was rambling and she certainly sounded stupid when she rambled.
