Waking in the late morning (though of course she can't tell time in the absolute dark down here), Oriana lies still for a moment, quaking with fear, listening to Orisk's slow, raspy breathing to steady her nerves, and wondering what woke her. It isn't hard to recognize the niggling ache of her bladder, and she grimaces, rising slowly from her spot next to the watchwher and stumbling forward towards what she expects is the entrance to the cave. Part of her wants to wake Orisk up and bring him with her, but there's that little whispering voice in the back of her head, telling her not to be so self-centered. Besides, I'll need to learn how to navigate without him in my own cave, the woman thinks, trying to override her selfish instincts. For once, she manages, and creeps carefully out of the cave.

Once in the hallway, though, she's completely lost. Unused to navigating in the dark, Oriana quickly loses track not only of which direction is the exit, but exactly where her own cave is. "Orisk?" she calls, trying to back that up mentally, as well, though her bond with the blue wher isn't very tight yet and she's never actually tried thinking at him like this before. No better time than the present, though, especially when she's lost in a deep, dark cave. /Orisk! Orisk, I'm lost!/ And afraid, she doesn't add. Ever since she was small, Oriana has been afraid of the dark, and only having a watchwher right beside her makes it at all bearable. Stumbling to the wall, she follows it to a doorway. She starts to enter, then stops, remembering that whoever is in there might have a defensive watchwher. "Is anyone in there?" she calls, her voice shaking.

Just across and down the passageway, Orisk wakes with a start. He rumbles softly, then rises and leaves his new lair to find Oriana. She'd be embarassed and relieved to know that her own cave is still so close, but he can't tell her that, but can only bump his heavy head against her hip and let her reach down and grip his vestigal neck-ridge. "Orisk!" she exclaims. But she's already called out, and it would be rude to walk away without at least discovering if anyone's in there to explain herself to.
