EASTCHESTER, N.Y. - William Francis DiGiacomo, of Eastchester, died Dec. 14 due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. He was 54.
He was born Oct. 4, 1957 to Frank DiGiacomo and Elizabeth Axelson. He attended Eastchester High School and was co-founder of F. DiGiacomo and Sons Plumbing Inc., where he worked alongside his father, his uncle Richard and his cousin Richard Jr.
In 1987, DiGiacomo became a professional firefighter for the Eastchester Fire Department before retiring on disability. He was vice president of Local 916 union and president of their welfare fund.
His fondest memories were of coaching his sons in the Eastchester Youth Soccer Association and Tuckahoe Youth Association baseball league. Every summer, DiGiacomo and his family would enjoy the vacation tradition of traveling to Lake George. Friends and family would join them on his boat "WilliamAndrew" for fishing and sight-seeing.
After his retirement, DiGiacomo took up woodworking and would take his dogs, Kelsey and Jack, out for morning walks on Twin Lakes.
He is survived by his wife Deborah DiGiacomo, his sons William DiGiacomo, Jr. and Andrew DiGiacomo, his brother John (Rose) DiGiacomo, his sister Denise (Vincent) Pancaldo, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Immaculate Conception Church, followed by interment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
