I had a Spencer 9 phone number and still remember it. Our post office was Tuckahoe, not Eastchester. I remember that fire horns announced if there was no school. My sister started at Waverly, but I think I was the second kindergarten at Anne Hutchinson. I remember having one afternoon a week to play/recess at school when all the Catholic kids went to religious education at ICS. Swimming in the lake before all the fancy docks/rafts went up at Interlaken's beach. Also having community gardens in Interlaken before the last apartments were built. Woodlot Road did not go all the way through until the Silverman's bought the lots and built the 4 houses on Woodlot. ( I still love that I lived at number 1) Also chickens and other barn yard animals in the house next to the church parking lot. Having the same Good Humour man/mailman/milk and egg man, etc. for most of my life. Supermarkets not open after 7 and opening at 11, except for Thursday and Fridays and being closed on Sundays.
