My dad grew up on Merritt Avenue and raised pigeons to sell to the military during WW2. No chickens, though.
I think Eastchester is representative of what most towns in the NY catchment area have experienced. The commute to NYC dictates the prices of many homes in the area. Who would have thought that co-ops in Interlaken and Leewood Circle would sell in the hundreds of thousands of dollars? I don't know how young families manage it.
