My parents bought a 1956 Dodge; it was three tone (grey, white and salmon colored) and was a push button automatic. Their next car was a 1960 white Chrysler, also with push button automatic. My friend's younger brother described the dash as looking like a space ship. This is the car I learned to drive on and drove for my road test. Flunked the first one, passed the second. These were the days when the local mailman (our's was named Walter) knew all the kids in the neighborhood (we lived in California Ridge) and when I got the results of my second road test, Walter delivered the envelope and said "I think you passed this time."
