Thanks for mentioning my dad, Fred Venuti and my Uncle Mario (Jack Vecciarelli), he was the leagues first president and should rightly be referred to as the father of the league. We also cannot leave out Mike Hughes (a coach of the team that went to Williamsport), Mr. Cusik, manager of the hated Dodgers) and, of course, Frank Bianco. On a recent trip back to Eastchester last April I went to see Frank. He still has a framed poster of the full page Eastchester Record sports page that highlighted the '55 team. I played one year at the old Town Hall field before moving to the new facility off Garth Road and remember facing Russ Smith (he was 12 and I was 8) in a pinch hit situation late in the game. When I went back to the dugout after three quick blazing strikes my dad asked why I didn't swing, I said, "I couldn't see it but I heard it go by!"

My dad and Mr. Citron put in the sprinkler system at the new field. The entire project was a community-wide project with everybody chipping in. You don't see that much anymore.

Great memories.
