Hi Mike. I love the flexibility of the External Degree Program. I had plenty of options for routes toward a degree since I was actually a University of Alabama employee when I registered. However, I'm relocating to Florida at the end of this month and so thankful that my program can move with me.

Although working full time, I've taken as many as 13 hours of classes during one semester (which, by the way I DON'T recommend) -- can you tell I'm eager to reach the finish line? I may have to slow down a bit with all the other demands on my time ... 6-9 hours/semester is more reasonable for me.

We're even eligible for scholarships as EXD students. Check it out.

But yes, you can do this. Incidentally, at my orientation (September 2004) I was pleasantly surprised to meet a great group of quality individuals who were all starting on this adventure, too. Backgrounds, reasons for deciding to do this, etc. were varied. All, however, were determined. Many, if not all, were already relatively successful in their careers. I was impressed with each of them and proud to be associated with these people.

If you decide to do this, welcome to a somewhat unique and special group. Stay in touch electronically and you won't feel like you're in it alone.
