I grew up watching a number of these epics on television. For me The Ten Commandments (1956) is the most epic of all the epics. Samson & Delilah (1949) and Cleopatra (1963) were also staples on television for many years.

About every kid my age remembers seeing Jason and the Argonauts (1963) at some point. It's a wonderful picture, and my favorite Ray Harryhausen (the famous stop motion animator) film. Yep, it's the one with the skeleton fight.

There are several on the list I am unfamiliar with, but they all sound interesting.

The main one I would add would be Spartacus (1960). A magnificent picture with Kirk Douglas and many other major stars.

I would also mention The Greatest Show on Earth (1952) from legendary producer-director Cecil B. DeMille, who also did The Ten Commandments.

I saw "Ben-Hur in the theater and the chariot was a great experience seeing it on the big screen. The screens were larger than the ones you find in most cinemas today.

I saw "How The West Was Won" in Cinerama and that was really something to see at the time.
