Slightly off thread here on my part Sgt.Tim, but it allows tooting my horn I'd like for you guys to know about...it's really one of the last of the wide screen epics, and it also has two of the best in terms of casting, but Charlton Heston was not in this one. I tend to agree though that the Moses and Ramses, along with so many other actors of reknown, made The Ten Commandments likely the best cast movie in motion picture history. It will always hold up well. I see special editions are now out as well.

There were other good ones, and this from 1962, though without C.Heston, had Yul Brynner...in a part some say he was born to play in this (dunno about that, but he was good) and Tony Curtis, who got top billing in the movie, as his son. The movie...Taras Bulba, grossly underrated. Great story, works on multiple levels, drama, action, family, duty, romance, absolutely amazing battles..on horseback, a rousing music score, pre CG days. Just do not get a cheap import. Let me know what you think if you get it. Maybe try a Netflix or equiv. first. It's rarely on TV.

I think of myself as fairly knowledgeable about older movies, but Taras Bulba is one I am totally unfamiliar with. Yet I see the cast is most impressive, led by Curtis and Brynner and with many notable character actors in support. I will keep an eye out for a copy, thanks for the heads up, Officer Torch.
