A fun idea, looking back to the 1931 classic to modern days releases. Have fun!

I'll cast votes for Universal oldies with Karloff in the first Frankenstein of 1931, and in "Bride" of 1935...the latter of which is my favorite overall. "Bride" has Waxman's great score, brilliant photography, plenty of sparking machinery and gadgets, building tension, and a bit of recap by Elsa Lanchester as Mary Shelley possibly allowing this movie to stand alone for those who missed the first one. The other Uni ones were ok, but I watch Bride at least once a year!

Being a lover of comedy, kudos to 1974s Young Frankenstein, done in black and white, with a great cast, and quite funny. Who can forget the late Peter Boyle as the monster, especially in the hermit's shack with his thumb set on fire, and eg Marty Feldman, as Igor, telling Dr. Frankenstein, Gene Wilder, to ...walk like this...and many other memorable moments and sight gags.

For more modern times, I'll give credit to 1994s Mary Shelley's Frankenstein with Branagh, DeNiro as monster and H.B.Carter as bride. A lengthier movie, yet holds interest, and puts a different twist from yesteryears offerings. Kind of violent in some ways, dramatic, intellectual. Just maybe keep the little ones away.
