Subject: Jerry G. Bishop - The Original Svengoolie

Jerry G. Bishop, who portrayed the Chicago horror host Svengoolie in the 1970s, has died at the age of 77. Bishop was Svengoolie on "Screaming Yellow Theater" on Chicago's WFLD Channel 32 from 1970 to 1973. Svengoolie was a hippie-like character and the show used "Rumble" by Link Wray as its theme song.

Rich Koz was a young college student when he began writing for the original Svengoolie. In 1979 Koz began hosting the Son of Svengoolie show, and today hosts the Svengoolie program Saturday nights on MeTV.

That's too bad. I hate to see the old horror stars and hosts pass on.

I never saw either of the Svengoolie's shows on TV because the channels they were on were not available in my area,
but I've read about them and seen clips on YouTube.
