Franz Waxman's amazing score for Bride of Frankenstein (1935) is the gold standard for me.

The serial Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938) was enhanced by its use of Waxman's Bride of Frankenstein score.

The Black Cat (1934) with music by Heinz Roemheld is another top notch effort. Roemheld's work can be heard in numerous Universal classics, including The Invisible Man (1933) and Dracula's Daughter (1936).

I'd have to go with "Bride of Frankenstein" as my best too.

Then "The Son of Frankenstein," "The Wolf Man," "Werewolf of London," "The Invisible Man" and "The Black Cat."
