Q: We heard tanna leaves in the 1st Mummy movie 1932. T or F

A: False. Tanna leaves did not show up until The Mummy's Hand (1940).

Q: Name the popular singer in the wraparound movie "Tales of the Darkside, the Movie."

A: Deborah Harry, formerly the lead singer of Blondie.

Q: Elsa Lanchester played dual roles in the first two Frankenstein films of the Thirties.T or F Who did she play.

A: She played Mary Shelley, the author who created Frankenstein, in a prologue sequence. The characters Percy Shelley and Lord Byron (the famous English poets) also appear.

In the main body of the film Lanchester plays the Bride of Frankenstein (the Monster), but she rejects her intended mate.

Q: Who does not belong in this group: Dennis Weaver, George Lucas, Boris Karloff, John Wayne, Harrison Ford. Why?

I am unsure of the answer to this one.

I am taking a wild guess at that last question.

Boris Karloff. Because he was born in England in the 19th century, while the others were, I believe, born in America in the 20th century?

Overall, you done good, as we say here sometimes, but not perfect Heh, heh....sorry, I trapped you a bit here and there.

1)Re tanna leaves, you're right, answer is false. They were a big deal though 8 years later in a kinda different mummy film, The Mummy's Hand (1940). Kharis really needed the juice from those tanna leaves to keep him goin'.

2)Correct..Deborah Harry, aka lead singer...Blondie, a most attractive, talented woman played a socially nice witch in the wraparound segments at beginning and end. She was going to bake a young lad in her kitchen oven, but in the end, she gets burned...big time. A good movie from 1990 with 3 short stories between...my favorite was Lover's Vow with the gargoyle segment. A good popcorn flick.

3)Potential trap here..think I gotcha Tim. Elsa Lanchester played Mary Shelley in Bride film opener commenting on her story and went on to tell more. We see flashbacks from 1st Frankenstein movie. Monster is still alive and kills man who falls into water at mill. Later, Elsa plays the monster's mate. Elsa was in Bride, the sequel, but don't recall her in 1st Frankenstein film. Heh, heh.

4)This one designed to drive you bonkers, the more you read into it, the tougher it gets. It boils down to what's the best choice. Here, the most straightforward was best choice in my opinion. I'd say answer is the mostly producer, director, writer George Lucas. The others are mostly great actors.

========================================================================================================================

Let me take a crack at yours Tim, and we'll just call this a wrap.

Re your first question, which I basically looked up on Wikipedia, was it someone named Jonathan Harker, who journeyed from England to Count Dracula's castle in the Carpathians around Transylvania, regarding support in real estate transactions? It was noted this was in Bram Stoker's novel Dracula published in 1897.

Re your 2nd question on 1931 film, was it Renfield (Dwight Frye) with similar business to conduct. (Perhaps he should have stayed home, the trip drove him buggy.)

You did indeed trip me up with the Elsa Lanchester question, as I was thinking of Bride of Frankenstein only, although your question asks about the first two Frankenstein films. Ya got me, heh!

You are right with both answers re the Dracula novel and film. In the novel it is Jonathan Harker who makes the trek to Dracula's lair, while in the movie it is Renfield, memorably played by Dwight Frye. John Harker does show up later in the movie, played by David Manners.
