Your favorite moments. I just got the cue lists for the films to work on.

Murders in the Rue Morgue has its share of creepy moments, including one fairly early in the picture.

After witnessing a street fight on a foggy night in Paris, Dr Mirakle (Bela Lugosi) approaches a distraught woman (who also witnessed the fight) and convinces her to come home with him. After he conducts his ape blood experiments on her, she dies. Mirakle seems to suffer some guilt for a few moments, but then has his servant Janos casually dispose of the body through a trap door.

It's interesting to note that Dracula, The Mummy and Murders in the Rue Morgue all use Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake for their opening credits.

"Murders in the Rue Morgue" and "The Mummy" gave Lugosi and Karloff two great roles after "Dracula" and "Frankenstein."

It's been a while since I've watched Murders in the Rue Morgue, but the scene where Dr Miracle discovers that the prostitute (Arlene Francis) has a STD, he cries, Your blood is rotten. When I first saw Rue Morgue I didn't understand what Dr Miracle meant by rotten blood until I was in my teens.

As for "The Mummy," the moment when Im Ho Tep reaches for the scroll and drives Bramwell Fletcher mad. I'll never for get the line: "He went for a little walk"

The exact meaning of the "rotten blood" line in Murders in the Rue Morgue originally escaped me as well, Dan. Lugosi also memorably cries out, "You cheated me! Your beauty was a lie!"

The entire scene probably would have been different had the film been released a couple of years later, after enforcement of the new Hays Office Code was implemented. This occurred around 1934-1935.
