Well, it's pretty tough to outbeat our Universal classics of yesteryear..Lugosi,Karloff,Chaney Jr.,Atwill, Zucco, Rains, Price, material and others of course. Here are some, from Universal and others I enjoyed...probably lots more though.

-Pretty much all Frankenstein movies, but especially Bride.
-Add the later one with Robt.DeNiro as the monster
-Dracula flicks with Lugosi
-Dan Curtis' Dracula with Jack Palance
-The Mummy, Mummy's Hand, Tomb, & to some extent 1999 remake
-The Black Cat 1934 mostly
-The Invisible Man w/C.Rains
-Phantom of the Opera....silent, and 1943
-The Mad Ghoul
-The Wolf Man 1941
-Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde 1932 especially, but '41 ok also
-Island of Lost Souls C.Laughton
-Vincent Price in the films based on various E.A. Poe works
-Halloween Parts 1 and 2
-Poltergeist Part 1
-Carnival of Souls
-Sleepy Hollow 1999
-What Dreams May Come 1998
-End of Days

Looking at Officer Torch's list I would have to say ditto, as I would agree that everything there is good stuff, the only possible exceptions being a couple of films that I have not seen.

My favorite Universal films are Jimmy Whale's two Frankenstein pictures, but I am a fan of the entire series, from the first one in 1931 all the way to Abbott and Costello meets Frankenstein in 1948. I enjoy about just about every Universal horror film with Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi or Lon Chaney Jr in the cast, which adds up to a lot of movies.

I am also a fan of Hammer Films, although if there were a Universal vs. Hammer debate being held I would have to be on the Universal side of the aisle. I don't see them as competing entities, but as completely different styles from two separate and distinct eras of film history. Here are my three favorite Hammer pictures.

Curse of Frankenstein (1957)
England's Hammer Studios had been around a long time, but this is the film that launched them to the top of the horror universe. It was a box office smash on both sides of the Atlantic. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee star, and would soon be to Hammer what Karloff and Lugosi had been to Universal.

Horror of Dracula (1958)
Hammer takes on the Dracula legend, and does it well. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing again take the lead roles, and Lee becomes strongly identified with the Dracula role just as Lugosi had been decades earlier. Many fans see this one as Hammer's finest hour.

Brides of Dracula (1960)
There is no Dracula in this sequel, but Peter Cushing returns as the intrepid Van Helsing. David Peel is memorable as a charming yet menacing vampire.

I enjoy just about every Universal horror film with Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi or Lon Chaney Jr in the cast, which adds up to a lot of movies! (To correct my typo above, lol)

My top five Universal favorites.

Frankenstein (1931)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Dracula (1931)
The Black Cat (1934)
Son of Frankenstein (1939)
