Or from any picture studio he worked. Truly, he was a great actor.

Yes Rick, he was a great actor. In fact, wherever and whatever I saw him in, whether serials, movies, etc., I always enjoyed the roles he played. Of course, I'm kind of biased and especially favored his part as Ming (along with a zillion other people I guess), and also his part as the Commandant in some Laurel and Hardy gems. Middleton, perhaps unmatched in evil roles, was in fact a good guy. Prior to Hollywood, he was also a performer and song and dance man on stage in vaudeville. He also did a routine later in the Marx Bros. "Duck Soup." For a lot of info, check IMDb, Wikipedia, and many places on the web. Explore the archives here on Rick's site, FG section mostly. We've chatted a lot about him over the years. He was a well respected man, and will not be forgotten.

It has to be the epic Flash Gordon trilogy, his defining role.

I also have to go with Middleton as "Ming The Merciless" in the "Flash Gordon" trilogy.

Then I'd pick "Strangler From the Swamp" from PRC.
