Of his Universal titles I would choose The House of the Seven Gables (1940). Although not a horror film by definition, it is a picture dripping with gothic atmosphere and a dark sense of foreboding and doom. Vincent Price gives a remarkable performance as Clifford Pyncheon, an ambitious young musician whose plan to sell the family home, known as Seven Gables, is foiled by his greedy brother Jaffrey Pyncheon (George Sanders).

I agree with Officer Torch regarding Price's status as a horror icon. He became the most recognized horror film star of his time, a title previously held by Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. His most famous pictures include House of Wax (1953), The Fly (1958), the Poe adaptations from the 1960s cited by Torch, and The Abominable Dr Phibes (1971).

THE HOUSE OF SEVEN GABLES for me, too. I loved everyone in it!

Invisible Man Returns
Tower of London
House of Seven Gables
Green Hell

The first Vincent Price film I seen in the theater was "The Fly."

Then the second one I saw was "House on Haunted Hill."
It had that skeleton gimic rigged up in the theater. It was fun but I remember it was also cheesy looking.
