Claude Rains filmography is quite extensive. I recall him in many movies of all kinds. Three which come to mind sooner than others include:

a)The Invisible Man...but we really don't see much of him on screen.

b)Maybe, just maybe the most popular, memorable appearances as Captain Louis Renault in the timeless classic Casablanca.

c)My favorite...his character Nick as Satan in 1946s Angel on My Shoulder. (For me, this movie works on several levels.) Basically, he matches wits with Paul Muni who acts as a double, former hood Eddie Kagle,...burning down in hell but brought above into respectable Judge Parker's body. ---ok, it goes on and is entertaining, witty, a tad spooky sometimes, comedic and we see a lovely Anne Baxter as the Judge's fiance. Oh, the way "Nick" and Eddie travel above and below is unforgettable.

I love Claude Rains in ANYTHING, but my favourites have to be INVISIBLE MAN, MAN WHO RECLAIMED HIS HEAD, MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD,, from "Big U"... THE WOLFMAN AND PHANTOM OF THE OPERA from "Little U"... and CASABLANCA, HERE COMES MR. JORDAN and NOTORIOUS for his "secular" films.
