You absolutely HAVE to see HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT. It is one of his greatest performances, and ranks with JOURNEY'S END as my favourite non FRANKENSTEIN role. He played a malevelant and insanely jealous man, trying to keep his wife from obtaining a divorce. He was sharp, sardonic, obsessive, and terrifyingly mad. Right on the money in every scene. What's incredible is that he was dying when he made it, and it showed. In fact he did die less than two months after the premiere. Fortunately, HISTORY is relatively available on VHS. Also, JANE EYRE is available on DVD. His performance is wonderful, but unfortunately the film is a typical Monogram train wreck

Last but not least, LOOKING FORWARD will be played on TCM on October 29 at 1:30am Eastern.

By all accounts, Colin Clive was an extremely reserved and gentle man who was remembered with affection and sadness by his co-workers.

Thanks for the info Joy.

I just looked through TCM's October schedule and sent them a "Remind Me" email for "Looking Forward" and a few other movies scheduled in Oct.

And welcome aboard, it's always good to see more fans of the old horror classics post here.

Dan. You will LOVE "LOOKING FORWARD". In it, Clive plays "GEOFFREY", the reserved, hardworking secretary of Lewis Stone's Store owner. "GEOFFREY" is also gently courting his employer's daughter.

It's an interesting part, because it's as close to the real man (as described by co-workers), as we ever got to see.
