So many...the following is a potpourri including later flicks and technically not all horror. Some scifi, adventure, suspense... perhaps material to stir our memory banks for more to discuss this new year. Believe these are Universal connected; if not, advise. So, from a subjective viewpoint, here are some of my favorites:

Titans Karloff and Lugosi for almost any horror/drama movie. To this, I'll add Lon Channey Jr.,Claude Rains, Edmund Lowe, John Davidson(1),and I'll just have to include Charles Middleton (1). There are many not indicated here....you guys name 'em.

Some from modern times: Tippi Hedren ("The Birds" 1963), Oskar Werner as Montag '66s Fahrenheit 451, Jamie Lee Curtiss & Donald Pleasence in '78/'81 Halloween flicks, Roy Scheider as chief and Robt. Shaw as Quint in 1975s Jaws, Sam Weill in Jurassic Park. Lots more.

I agree with the great choices cited by Officer Torch. For this "A to Z" list I would add Atwill and Zucco. (I seem to remember an old book or magazine article about character actors titled "From Atwill to Zucco"). Lionel Atwill and George Zucco can both be seen in House of Frankenstein (1944), although not in the same scenes.

Dwight Frye, the ultimate madman, especially memorable as Renfield in Dracula (1931).

Elsa Lanchester, brilliant as both the Bride of Frankenstein and as the original monster maker, Mary Shelley.

As Torch said, there are many more.

Tim
